The Odisha Millet Mission focuses on promoting millet cultivation, marketing, and value chain development as an alternative to water-intensive crops like paddy and wheat in Komna and Nuapada blocks of Nuapada district. Backed by the Government of Odisha, the program supports 8,666 individual farmers, helping them adopt millet farming, which requires fewer inputs and is more sustainable. With six staff members driving the initiative, the program has enabled farmers to transition toward millet-based diets, easing their farming challenges and enhancing their livelihoods. By reducing reliance on traditional crops, the mission aims to build long-term agricultural resilience and improve food security in the region.
