Kanhu Sabar comes from a peasant family in Malpada village of Kandetara GP in Komna blok of Nuapada district. Being a marginal farmer, he was selected for the support from Azim Premji Foundation being implemented by CPSW-KENDUBHATA. His dilapidated dug well could not provide enough water for the agriculture that he was practicing. First the dug well was desilted to increase the depth to retain more water and the retaining wall around the dugwell repaired to stop the external slush, leaves to enter the well. Apart from desilting of the well, it was again deepened to increase the depth to 1.5 meter .This resulted in having more water retention by the well to provide enough water to the farmer in both kharif and rabi season. By using this water from his well he did multi-cropping like cauliflower, brinjal, tomato, green chilli in addition to the paddy cultivation. He is able to sell those vegetable in the local market. He was able to sell cauliflower for Rs. 27500/-, tomato for Rs. 15000/-, green chilli for Rs. 5000/- and brinjal for Rs. 15000/-
